Crazy day at work today. It was pretty busy, but unlike a lot of busy days, it didn't go by very fast, especially in the morning, and then when it slowed down in the late afternoon.
It's getting colder here! The "s" word (snow.
) has been mentioned. He-he... that looked like "sword" which is reminicient (sp?) of the SNL skit with "Sean Connery". Anyway...
Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat. Please to put a penny in Emmaline's hat. I have a lot of bills (car insurance, car payment, tag, inspection, bookstore) to pay very soon. But anyway... I'll have to cross that bridge (those bridges) when I come to them.
I made a quiz today. Have you taken it yet? It's on the main page.
Happy one year anniversary (almost) of when I got my car.
It's a cold night tonight
I can feel the chill just running through my veins
It's a cold night tonight
And I've got questions I cannot explain.
I am caught in the here and now,
but I know that someday, somehow
this old self will pass away.
And then I'll face eternity
with no more questions inside of me
and be left with the choices that I've made.
And I wade through my unbelief
to a place where my mind can see
the truth of You living in my heart.
In spite of the shame that consumes my days
I know that Jesus has made a way,
And this prayer seems a decent way to start.
"If I should die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take
but if I live 'til morning's light
I still want Jesus by my side.
I still want Jesus by my side."
All the choices I've made since then
Some were right, but some were sin
cannnot undo the work You've done in me.
And if I can trust You with my soul
and the universe is in Your control
then I can trust You with eternity.
"If I should die before I wake
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
But if I live 'til morning's light
I still want Jesus by my side.
I still want Jesus by my side
By my side to carry me
Over rocky land and sea
To live is Christ
and to die's all right
if I've got Jesus by my side
if I've got Jesus by my side."
So... in DC, and we find the Washington Convention Center. There are people standing around outside, and we drive around trying to find parking. I think this was the night that a guy at a parking garage told us tat we could park on side streets free until morning, and then pay the meter (sp?), or park on a main street until morning. We eventually found a parking lot where we were able to park for free (at least I think it was free!).
I expected the line to be outside and to spend the night on the sidewalk, but they were already letting people in the building. We went through the front, and had to check our bags. Then we showed our two forms of ID, and got our bracelets which showed that we were able to audition. (David asked what the different colors meant... one was redish and one was yellow. The girl said that the red bracelet meant that you weren't going to make it... ha-ha. Actually, the red bracelets were for auditioners, the yellow were for guests.)
At this point, I still didn't see a line, but Kinsey and David went up the escalators, and Sarah and I followed. At the top of the second set of escalators was a large room where the line was set up. Like last year's parking lot, the line went back and forth like an amusment park ride line, with barricades. There was also yellow tape separating the lines. To be continued?
Time Spent On Road: Approximately 23 Hours, Including Stops and the Approximate Hour That Kinsey, Sarah, and I Drove Around DC Looking for Parking
Miles Put on My Car: Over 1,100
States Visited: 5 (Including My Home State) and the District of Columbia. (Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina).
Part One:
I left home around 12:00 noon on Monday, August 16. A stop in Greensboro to buy a Bill Withers CD, and entering Virginia, and I was ready to arrive in Annapolis. It was almost 10:00 PM by the time I found David's house. His mom had stuff for tacos, and we watched a bit of the Olympics. Sarah met us there, I took a shower, and it was off to DC!
Kinsey helped Sarah pump gas (he had never pumped gas before), and we sang songs from our scholarship ensemble on the way to DC... to be continued?
I am a sleepy girl. I got in last night after 12:00, and didn't get much sleep for at least the 2nd night in a row.
I went to hear Janelle's band at the coffee house last night. I enjoyed going, and left inspired. I saw this guy I hadn't seen since high school, and really didn't even talk to in high school. He's the drummer in the band, and it's kind of interesting how these people seem to be popping up from my past.
During my lunch break today, Sharon and I went to the street festival on Main Street. It started to rain, which made for an interesting time.
Sorry, I'm not being more detailed at the moment... I am seriously sleepy.
It's exciting that B-rad has a flannel shirt for me to borrow, only he lives far away, and he's not sure that he wants to give it up, and flannel is not so flattering anyway...
Today at work went by pretty fast. My boss's mother had to be taken to the hospital today, so pray about that.
Well, I don't know what else to put here at the moment, but keep the comments coming!
